True Catalyst 7X3 Intermediate Pro Goalie Leg Pads 

The leg pads that goalies have been waiting for ever since True joined the goalie ranks two years ago – an intermediate aged level pad.  Goalies Plus has gone all in on the new True 7X3 series with eight exclusive custom colors.

The True Catalyst 7X3 is a hybrid style pad.  It is a very lightweight pad with a thinned out with the top of the pad built with higher density foams for optimal seal on the ice. With a single break design, the bottom of the knee up has a stiff built.  Goalies with a medium to wide butterfly tend to really like this design as it maximizes ice seal and surface coverage.

The Treu Catalyst 7X3 Intermediate pads come in a 10.25in. width.  We have found that this seem to be a great pad width to the proportionate height of intermediate pads.  We have seen intermediates at 10.75 and 11 inches wide which has a tendency to restrict a smaller goalie’s movement.  The 11-inch-wide pad is the senior size therefore it only makes sense that the intermediate pad be narrower.  The 7X3 in our opinion will allow for great mobility in this size category.

Goalies Plus has added a weave inner edge to maximize slide ability (The Metallic Gold & Black color does not have the weave inner edge).

On the backside of the pad, the 7X3 uses a nylon knee and leg channel.  This helps maximize pad rotation in and out of the various butterfly techniques.  The knee channel also has a wide design to accommodate various goalie knee guards.

The shin area of the pad is built with a more traditional design which allows for more flex for the hybrid style goalie. The boot of the PX3 has the 90-degree angle which again provides the flex in the boot that the hybrid goalie wants.

The True Catalyst 7X3 pads were designed to maximize the benefits of having a superior boot flex, resulting in enhanced mobility and control for all different game situations. Patent-pending Fast Rotation System (FRS) located at the calf keeps the leg connected to the pad. FRS makes them incredibly responsive without compromising rotation when dropping to the ice.

Bungee Toe Tie:  The True 7X3 goalie pads come stock with a bungee toe tie system. For years manufactures have used a skate lace to connect the toe of the pad to the toe of the skate.  In recent years, after market bungee toe tie products have become very popular because they allow the toe of the pad to stretch from the toe of the skate with an elastic type of effect.  This stretching and recoiling improves the recovery process and creates more power pushes for the goalie. This toe system also takes pressure off the goalie’s ankles, knees and hips because it eliminates the quick stop and jerk process that skate lace has when it runs out of slack.
