Brian’s Optik X3 Senior Goalie Leg Pads
The new Brian’s Optik X3 Pro goalie leg pads are designed for a high-level goalie looking for top level performance without paying full pro custom pricing.
The Brian’s X3 goes to a thinned-out profile for 2023 with no break in the vertical roll. Since the profile has been thinned out, no break is necessary to add flexibility. A pre-molded s-shape allows the Optik X3 to seal the five hole for goalies that have narrower and medium width butterfly coverage.
On the inside of the pad, Brian’s uses the very popular primo material on the inner edges. The primo inner edge provides improved slidability and makes lateral movements while in the various butterfly techniques much easier with less effort. The inner binding on the Optik X3 has also been recessed to reduce friction.
Another feature of the Optik X3 leg pads is the Smart Cord bungee toe tie system. Gone is the big, clunky elastic straps that Brian’s used in the past. This style (cord) tow tie allows for maximum flexibility and attach angle while the goalie is in their butterfly techniques. The cord can be adjusted to any skate size.
The X3 has a slightly wider then average leg channel. The leg channel can be custom fitted with adjustable elastic straps in the knee and calf areas. The foot scoop of the Brian’s X3 leg pads utilizes a softer boot which allows goalies a great range of motion while in recovery movements and general skating movements. This added range of motion has become extremely popular over the past few years. The Optik X3 comes with a Smart Boot strap under the heel. This nylon webbing design is very user friendly with a velcro design that allows the goalies to secure and take off in seconds.

Brian’s Optik X3 Senior Goalie Catch GloveÂ
New for 2023 is the Brian’s Optik X3 senior goalie catch glove. This glove maximizes the 45-inch perimeter rule and has a gigantic catching pocket. The break of the glove has a 40-degree closure. Internally the Optik X3 glove uses a no slip SBA synthetic interior liner material. This material allows the goalie to gain more control with their fingers and palm while squeezing the glove. The Optik X3 uses a traditional nylon wrist strap which is surrounded by a large floating pad, this allows the goalie to lock down the glove with comfort. Across the back of the hand is another locking strap which is surrounded with a large, padded air-knit material. The finger stalls also utilize an air-knit material for durability and comfort. The catching surface has a huge single t pocket with a deep thumb angle makes catching the puck very easy on this glove.
A segmented backhand allows this glove to be more flexible off the shelf.
For a glove at this Senior/Pro level, there is a lot of padding in the Optik X3. In reality the padding on this glove feels like a pro level glove off the shelf.
