The new CCM Axis A1.9 goalie mask has a number of improvements for 2020. Starting with fit and comfort, the new Axis goalie mask is much more comfortable then past CCM mask generations. In the past, the CCM Pro goalie mask used a layer of high density black foam between that and the goalies head. This foam was very hard and unless your head fit perfectly, it was not very comfortable. With the new Axis goalie mask, CCM has used some fitting technology from their player helmet models to make the goalie mask more comfortable. The lining still starts with a triple density VN and I.Q.SHION foam in the cheek areas, however four gel fluid pods (two on each side) are placed in this foam to add extra protection and comfort. A memory foam has been added to the forehead and crown of the mask for added shock dampening but again is much more comfortable then past CCM masks.
