Vaughn 9500 Chest Protector Style – Athletic Hybrid Style

Now available at Goalies Plus is the reboot of the 9500 Pro Spec (Made in USA) Chest & Arm Protector.  Many goalies would ask what is a 9500 or why we would bring back a 15–20-year-old model?  First off this has been updated to 2025 materials and protection.  Second, there are still NHL goalie(s) that still wear the 9500 Chest Protector.  We have also made several custom orders over the past year or two for this model.  So why would a goalie want a 9500?  The reasons are many, for one the 9500 has a very wide and square profile.  On a large unit, the 9500 is 22 inches side to side on the shoulder floaters.  This compared to a CCM Pro Spec which is 20.5 inches wide.

The 9500 Chest Protector is very mobile unit with more mobility than most (if not all) pro chest protectors. The goalie has the benefit of the wide and square look with the flexibility of a smaller/hybrid unit.  The arms have added bicep and forearm protection but again have mobility that is second to none. Also, the profile of the 9500 Chest Protector is very flush on the goalie’s shoulders and chest.  By this we mean that the 9500 is not puffy and bulging out on the goalie’s body.  This also allows the goalie to move their head and not have the chin drop on their mask get stuck/restricted by the shoulder floaters.  Also, when a goalie looks down, there is no interference with the chest protector bulging out and obstructing their view.  The rib area has a full wrap around padded design for excellent side coverage.  This chest protector is also cut right at the belt line.  This is ideal for a goalie that likes to tuck their chest protector into their pants.

This is a top level – pro unit that is made domestically in the USA.  For a goalie that is looking for the wide/square look but needing a very mobile unit, the 9500 is a great option.
